Democratic Buzz

Along with the rest of the country, large attention has been given to the Presidential Race here on campus.  With two strong democratic candidates, there is much excitement, hope and also debate.  The past weekend has been especially active. Friday afternoon, Senator Ted Kennedy came and spoke in the Bates chapel in support of Barack Obama.  Saturday, Hillary Clinton herself made a visit to the old Lewiston armory, only a block from campus.  These were both in anticipation of Sunday’s important Maine Caucus.  With both candidates getting such strong and seemingly equal support in many states, a large and crucial pressure was being put on our great state.  Students have shown huge support, attending in masses to each of these three events.  What an exciting and remarkably cool time to be a voting citizen and college student.
